Schools are only as good as the teaching staff that run them. Even during my transition to the role of principal at Grange Junior School, it quickly became clear to me that we have a very special staff at this school.
Their talent, passion, and commitment were immediately clear. The progress and wellbeing of our pupils are at the heart of everything they do. This approach, combined with their dedication to their work, stands the school and our students in good stead.
Of course, the staff and I recognise that there is no room for complacency. While I have faith in this fantastic staff, improvements can always be made. We, as a school, must continue to progress and make strides in every aspect of our offering.
To establish the finest staff possible, I will be focusing on two main areas:
- Nurturing and retaining our current staff.
- Recruiting the best available staff.
The incredible team we already have at Grange Juniors has carried the school into its current position of strength. It is my intention to provide them with regular opportunities to develop their skills and fulfil their potential at Grange Junior School. In doing so, we will create a special environment that makes staff feel valued and supported and ensures they don’t see opportunities elsewhere as an improvement on their current situation.
When vacancies at our school do become available, this environment will allow us to attract and recruit the best teaching staff. A school that has a demonstrably happy staff and offers opportunities for teachers to develop is an incredibly attractive proposition. I want Grange Juniors to be the school of choice for any teaching staff; whether they are newly qualified or looking to take the next step in their career.
By assembling an exceptional staff and always looking for ways to improve, we naturally enhance the standard of teaching and learning delivered at the school and create a real culture of excellence that drives academic achievement and pupil success.
