Curriculum Intent for Grange Junior School
At Grange Junior School, our pupils actively explore and expand their knowledge and understanding across the curriculum. They follow their curiosity to delve into subjects. They use their initiative to explore their thoughts and ideas. They use their creativity to share their personal responses to what they discover.
As Staff, we aim to help each individual become a caring, confident and curious young person who has a passion for learning and a desire to be the best that they can.
Our curriculum has been developed around our 5 Golden Threads:

This knowledge and skills based, language-rich curriculum engages pupils in a diverse range of enhanced learning experiences which promote respect and responsibility through citizenship. We weave subjects into big projects which enable pupils to make connections within their learning.
We foster a sense of community and provide different opportunities for pupils to develop their interpersonal skills and a sense of responsibility to themselves, others and the world around them. Pupils are encouraged to be proactive in their learning and to contribute to the daily life of the school. These opportunities include school council, learning ambassadors, play leaders, reading buddies and eco warriors.
We use our Busy Bee learning values to develop positive attitudes to learning which will support pupils in the next stage of their learning as well as their lives beyond school.
- Aspiration – develops a desire for improvement through focus and self-regulation
- Bravery – develops self-belief when taking risks
- Reflection - develops open-minded, critical thinking
- Resilience – develops a determination to cope with challenge
- Support – develops a sense of personal and joint responsibility and respect
